My gyn and midwife were just a call or a text away

My gyn and midwife were just a call or a text away whenever i needed them.

At the beginning of 2021, I was at the end of my first trimester carrying my second bundle of joy. As any mother can relate, no matter how prepared you are, you will always feel unprepared. I had my top hospital options laid out, until I was informed about the Marie Stopes newly opened hospital and Maternity centre at Forest mall in Lugogo.  A few days later, I took a tour at the facility, and it was a perfect. I especially liked the fact that it’s clean and it doesn’t have that horribly nauseating ‘hospital smell!’ and had very warm staff. For that and many other reasons I and my husband were sold, and my mind was made to have our bundle of joy from there.

Through the course of my pregnancy, we continued to attend checkups as advised by Dr Rosette (a resident gynecologist) and sister Suzan a great midwife who were only a call or a text away whenever I needed them. The worries never really end, and I don’t take it for granted how amazing it was to have both my midwife and a gyn only a text away.

As we got closer to the due date, calls from Marie Stopes became more frequent generally asking about how I was feeling and scheduling visits whenever there was any worry. A few days before presumed due date, I had been asked to monitor baby movement and on the 28th of July, I felt the baby hadn’t been moving as much as the days before. It had always been a party in my belly, so this seemed quite unusual, and I was advised to check in for an assessment.

We got to Marie Stopes and after a scan, it’s determined that the fetal heart rate is low. At this point Dr. Rosette pulls us to the side and we discuss our options. I was ready to have my baby, and I was sure I was in good hands, so we decided to have the procedure done. We stroll into the theatre all the while the team was calmly explaining the process to me for like the umpteenth time. I felt even much safer when Dr. Rosette led her team in a quick word of prayer before proceeding. Fast forward the operation was successful and my baby was healthy.

My first night at Marie Stopes felt like home, the team was around to provide all the support I needed.

Marie Stopes stayed in contact within the first weeks postpartum. For every worry I had about my newborn these wonderful ladies had an answer/solution.

I plan to get my family planning method soon, as I am not ready to have another baby soon.
