Uganda’s leading reproductive health organization, Marie Stopes has unveiled a new condom brand called FLAME. The condom, launched on Valentine’s Day (14th February 2025) is an addition to the organization’s social marketing products as brand for middle-income consumers.
Marie Stopes has established itself as the largest family planning organization in Uganda and the world over. Part of our mission is to double the impact in providing sexual and reproductive health services and products. The launch of FLAME Condoms is yet another step towards that in addition to growing our product portfolio and providing a full range of sexual reproductive healthcare products for men and women.
“Marie Stopes is a brand known for pushing boundaries and constantly innovating to meet the evolving needs of today’s modern and conscious consumers. One of the main barriers
to condom use is the misconception that they reduce sensation and intimacy. We are determined to address this challenge and support our wellbeing through creative, forward-thinking solutions. Socially marketed products are essential because they help normalize condom use among the population, increase demand, and ensure availability through a range of accessible outlets. Our new FLAME Condoms come in three variants designed to stimulate all five senses for both men and women,” said Dr Peter Ddungu, the Country Director.
FLAME Condoms, a mid-tier brand, are designed to meet the dynamic needs of modern consumers, offering a variety of features and exciting flavors.
The Director of Impact Channels at Marie Stopes, William Nyombi stated, “Today’s consumers no longer use condoms for their primary function of protection against STDs and pregnancy prevention. They are also looking for condoms that provide enhanced experiences. FLAME Condoms cater to this desire by providing a fun, pleasurable experience that also prioritizes safety.”
The Chief Guest, Dr. Charles Olaro, Director General of the Ministry of Health, emphasized that the introduction of FLAME condoms by Marie Stopes is a great contribution to the National Comprehensive Condom Programming Strategy which seeks to increase the availability and access to condoms through commercial channels.
He added, “FLAME condoms have successfully passed rigorous quality assessments and received approval from the National Drug Authority (NDA) for market distribution. We congratulate Marie Stopes on this milestone and their continued commitment to improving reproductive health outcomes in Uganda.”
To promote the brand, Marie Stopes has launched a digital campaign, #TurnUpTheHeat, to engage and educate the public about the importance of safe sex and the benefits and unique features of FLAME Condoms.
