MSU offers a wide range of services across our channels.
Marie Stopes Uganda (MSU) provides a comprehensive range of contraceptive options to men and women of reproductive age in Uganda. We work with trained healthcare providers throughout the country to ensure that high quality, safe and affordable family planning options are available through all of our channels. We provide both short and long term methods including contraceptive implant, IUD, contraceptive injection and press, condoms, contraceptive pills and voluntary surgical contraception (VSC). Family planning counseling, side effects management and removal services are also available at all of our service delivery points. MSU also markets the LifeGuard condom.
We provide antenatal and postnatal care through our network of centres. MSU also socially markets Misoclear, our brand of Misoprostol used to prevent post-partum hemorrhage.
We are committed to helping Uganda to meet its commitments under the Campaign for accelerated Reduction of Maternal Mortality (CARMMA) and its National Development Plan (2010 – 2015). Improving maternal health is fundamental to our commitment to support the rights of women to live healthy lives.
Every year hundreds of thousands of women in Uganda resort to unsafe abortions which often result in serious health complications or death. Unsafe abortion is estimated to contribute to about 26% of maternal deaths and a much higher proportion of reproductive ill health. Post-abortion care can be a vital, life-saving intervention. MSU offers post abortion care services at 15 of our centres to prevent these often avoidable deaths.
